A connection note has 300 characters to answer one question: why are you connecting? Generate five notes with a real reason in each — no pitch — and check any note against the limit as you edit.

What gets a connection request accepted

People accept requests that make sense to them. Mention the specific thing that led you to them — a post, a talk, a shared connection, the same niche — and stop there. The note's job is to get you into their network, not to sell. Once connected, the sales conversation can follow naturally, often by email: the cold email generator can write that next step, and the cold outreach sequence shows where LinkedIn fits alongside email and phone.

Questions people ask

How long can a LinkedIn connection message be?

Up to 300 characters for a personalised invitation note on Premium accounts. LinkedIn has restricted free accounts to a small number of personalised notes per month, and some free accounts see a shorter 200-character limit — the counter here lets you check against either.

Should I send a connection request with or without a note?

A short, genuine note usually helps with people who don't know you, because it answers "why is this person connecting?". If you are on a free plan with limited notes, save them for your most important prospects.

Should I pitch in a LinkedIn connection request?

No. A pitch in the invitation is the fastest way to be ignored or reported. Give a reason to connect — a shared interest, their post, a mutual connection — and save the conversation for after they accept.

What should I write after they accept?

A thank-you and a light, relevant question or resource. Move to a business conversation only once there is some back-and-forth.
